Common Myths!
Females will 'bulk up' if they weight train. Truth is muscle gain depends a range of factors: program design (sets and reps, frequency), gender, hormones and an array of other influences. It is extremely difficult for females to build large amounts of muscle mass in any case.
Spot reduction! Crunches to flatten the tummy, dips to remove tuck shop lady arms put simply does not work. Fat stores are metabolised from the whole body and big muscle groups burn more energy. So get on the squats, deadlifts, bench press and anything that involves the whole body.
'It doesn't matter what I eat before or after training because I will burn it off.' Nutrition is the most important part of your program. As much as 80% of you results will come as a direct result of what you put in your body. If you put the wrong fuel in your car it will not run well. Athletes don't eat well just for the sake of it!
